NAPCSE AWARDS
Each year, NAPCSE presents awards in a variety of categories for outstanding accomplishments. NAPCSE takes great pride in the accomplishments and service of those who make a difference in the lives of exceptional children, and therefore bestows on to them awards and recognition for their commitment and dedication. NAPCSE awards include:

NAPCSE Excellence in Teaching Award
Description of Award
This award is bestowed on special education teachers who have demonstrated outstanding achievement as a teacher in the field of special education. It recognizes and rewards the special skills and excellence of special education teachers in each state throughout the United States. The NAPCSE Excellence in Teaching Award is open to all teachers who are certified or licensed in their respective state as special education or inclusion classroom teachers.
This award bears the NAPCSE official seal, the recipient's name, the name of the award, and the date awarded.
Eligibility
A candidate for the NAPCSE Excellence in Teaching Award will meet the following criteria:
- Be nominated by anyone involved in the field of special education (e.g. colleague, administrator, parent of a child with a disability, etc.)
- Be a full-time, certified or licensed, special education teacher
- Be a highly dedicated, knowledgeable and skilled teacher
Selection Criteria
Nominators are encouraged to consider addressing any or all of the activities listed below, in order to demonstrate the candidate's unique qualifications for the NAPCSE Excellence in Teaching Award.
Candidates will be judged based upon the following criteria:
Teaching
- Curriculum Development
- Engagements with Students in Educational Activities (outside of classroom)
- Other Demonstrations of Quality Teaching
- Relationships with Students, Parents, Colleagues, Administrators, etc.
- Teaching Honors, Awards, or Recognition
- Teaching Innovations
- Service(outside of classroom)
- Community Service
Other Areas of Service
- Service Honors, Awards, or Recognition
- Service to Professional Organizations
- Service within School District
Professional Activities
- Awards and/or Certifications
- Membership/Participation in Professional Organizations
- Other Contributions to the Profession

Nominations for this award should be submitted to NAPCSE’s Awards and Nominations Committee. NAPCSE ‘s Awards and Nominations Committee will review all applications and then determine its award recipients.

NAPCSE Excellence in Parenting Award
Description of Award
This award is bestowed on parents of children in special education who have demonstrated an outstanding dedication to children in special education and/or making a difference in the lives of those in special education. Their dedication and commitment to exceptional children are the main criteria NAPCSE looks for when bestowing these awards on parents. NAPCSE recognizes and rewards parents in each state throughout the United States. The NAPCSE Excellence in Parenting Award is open to all parents with children in special education.
This award bears the NAPCSE official seal, the recipient's name, the name of the award, and the date awarded.

A candidate for the NAPCSE Excellence in Parenting Award will meet the following criteria:
- Be nominated by someone (e.g. colleague, administrator, parent of a child with a disability, etc.)
- Be a parent of a child in special education

NAPCSE Distinguished Service in Special Education Award
Description of Award
NAPCSE's Distinguished Service in Special Education Award is open to organizations who have made a commitment to educate, and or advocate for children with disabilities and their families. NAPCSE's Distinguished Service in Special Education Award is one of NAPCSE's most prestigious awards which will be bestowed no more than once a year and not necessarily every year.
The award plaque will have the organization's name, the designation NAPCSE's Distinguished Service in Special Education Award and the date awarded.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
The nominee should be an organization that has been dedicated to educating the public about special education and or to changing political or governmental policies or who has directly influenced the legal rights of children with disabilities.

Nominations for this award should be submitted to NAPCSE’s Awards and Nominations Committee. NAPCSE’s Awards and Nominations Committee will review all applications and then determine its award recipients.

NAPCSE Lifetime Achievement Award
Description of Award
The NAPCSE Lifetime Career Achievement Award honors an individual whose professional accomplishments have made a significant and lasting impact on the field of special education, and whose life and character have earned the respect and admiration of their professional colleagues.
This award bears the NAPCSE official seal, the recipient's name, the name of the award, and the date awarded.
Eligibility
Nominees must have served the profession over an extended period of time and will be honored for their service and performance.
Nominators and candidates are encouraged to consider addressing any or all of the activities listed below, in order to demonstrate the candidate's unique qualifications for the NAPCSE Lifetime Career Achievement Award.
This award is presented by NAPCSE in recognition of a lifetime of contributions to the field of working with, helping, and/or teaching in special education.

NAPCSE Honorary Membership Award
Description of Award
Honorary Membership is to be bestowed upon special educators and parents who have distinguished themselves by their service and devotion to exceptional children. This shall be designated as one of the most distinguished awards. It shall be customary, but not mandatory, to grant one or more Honorary Memberships each year.
This award bears the NAPCSE official seal, the recipient's name, the name of the award, and the date awarded.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Nominees must have served the profession over an extended period of time and will be honored for their service and performance. Recipients are not NAPCSE members at the time of application.
Nominators and candidates are encouraged to consider addressing any or all of the activities listed below, in order to demonstrate the candidate's unique qualifications for the Honorary Membership Award
